Once all documents are received and application fees are paid, your application can normally be reviewed and a decision made within a few days.

The transfer application will require a document uploaded into the Practice Hours section, simply upload a note indicating that you are newly licensed.

ANBLPN’S ROLE WHEN MEMBERS LEAVE NB

This documentation is requested by the member and sent directly to the destination jurisdiction by ANBLPN as a Verification of Registration.

TIMELINE
We are a small staff so the timeline for this process can vary depending on the current volume of applicants however, we do our best to ensure that documents are forwarded to destination jurisdictions in a timely manner. Generally, the process can be completed within 1-2 business days after payment is received.

PROCESSING FEES
The processing fees are payable through your member account and are as follows:

  • $23.00 – Transferring to another Canadian province

  • Once the form is sent, you will receive a confirmation email from ANBLPN
Your NB License While You Are Out of Province

If you are working as an LPN in another jurisdiction, it is not required that you renew your NB license while you are out of province. If you return to NB, you may apply to reinstate your license through your ANBLPN account.

At that time you will be required to provide:

  1. Verification of registration from the other jurisdiction(s)
  2. Verification of practice hours from your employer(s) to confirm the 1000 practice hours minimum requirement

When you transfer your license to another jurisdiction, your NB LPN license is still valid until its expiry date, which is normally November 30. You may hold licenses in more than one jurisdiction as long as you maintain membership fees in any jurisdictions you are working in.

Reinstating Your License

Follow this process if you meet the following criteria:
1. You have already been licensed as an LPN in New Brunswick AND

2. You are returning from leave, ex. maternity, sick, retirement, etc. OR
3. You are returning from working as an LPN in another province
Reinstating your license is the process of going from a non-practicing or expired license back to an active license. You must apply to reinstate your license and meet the requirements of active licensure before your reinstatement is approved.

Apply for reinstatement at least 2 weeks prior to your start/return date.
  • Option 2 – Returning to work IN October or November:

If you Have Been Working in Another Province
To minimize delays, it is recommended that you request Verification of Registration from any province(s) in which you are/have been licensed as an LPN before you begin your application for reinstatement. Refer to the College/Association of each applicable province for directions on how to request verification of registration and expected processing time.
*The Verification of Registration will be sent directly to ANBLPN by the applicable college/association.

If you Have Been Working in Another Province, OR on Leave Spanning More Than 1 Licensure Year
You will also be required to upload Verification of Hours into your application for reinstatement to ensure you have the required accumulation of 1000 practice hours over the most recent 5 years.

FAQ

Some renewals may be auto-approved however, there are some factors that require manual review and approval. Below is a list of some of the common ones:

  • Change of employer
  • Profile updates such as name changes
  • Answering no to CCP, or items in the declarations section
  • Unpaid invoice(s)

During renewal, we do our best to review renewal submissions several times per day however, we cannot guarantee that renewals will be approved the same day. This is why it is important to complete your renewal as soon as possible once the renewal period opens on October 1.

Yes. All members must complete their renewal form online. If you are on payroll deduction with your employer, the payment can only be applied once your renewal has been submitted.

If you signed up for PAD, you may have a balance owing when you complete your renewal if any of your payments did not go through or if you signed up after January.
You will just need to pay the balance owing before your license becomes active.
Note: To minimize bank charges, PAD subscriptions are cancelled if 2 consecutive payments do not go through.
It is each member’s responsibility to enter their banking information accurately when signing up for PAD.
See our PAD document for more information.

Yes. Members who have paid their license fees through payroll deduction or preauthorized debit but have renewed as non-practicing will be refunded the balance of their fees. Refunds are processed in December, once the renewal period has closed. We are unable to hold funds in member accounts to be applied the following year.

No. If you are planning to renew a practicing license next year, you may continue your preauthorized debits so the funds will be available when you renew your active license.

Renewals must be completed online through your member account. ANBLPN staff can answer questions regarding your renewal however, we are not able to complete it for you however, we have a great step-by-step video (see the [Resources] section above) to help you complete your renewal.

We do our best to assist our 4000 members however, we are a small staff and are not always able to assist everyone immediately and encourage members to refer to the many resources on the website.

Because we are a small staff and renewal is very busy, we cannot guarantee that we will be available to assist walk-ins. Please call or email instead of traveling to the office.

If you do arrive at the office, you will still need to complete your renewal online and will need access to your email. We are not able to do your renewal for you whether on the phone or in person.

Which Renewal Option Should You Choose?

Review the options below to decide which license status is appropriate for your situation for the upcoming year (Dec 1 – Nov 30), then log into your account to complete your renewal.

ACTIVE - $350

  • Fee: $350
